LECTURE PHASE – KNOW GOD
The DTS lecture phase is 3 months long. Each week will include: lectures on a particular topic from knowledgeable speakers, community worship, time in our basewide prayer room, bible study, fellowshipping over meals, free time to be creative, night lectures, small groups, and intentional time to chat with an individual mentor.
Some of the subjects that you will learn about during the lecture phase include:
- The Nature & Character of God
- The Father Heart of God
- Hearing God’s Voice
- Relationships – Forgiveness, Repentance & Conflict Resolution
- Making Jesus Lord and Surrendering Rights
- Bible Worldview
- Missions & Evangelism
- Holy Spirit and Spiritual Warfare
- Identity in Christ
Speakers for our DTS schools come from the local Christian community, other YWAM bases in Australia and from overseas. Speakers are individually picked for each school, making every school a unique place to learn about God from many perspectives.
SMALL GROUPS AND ONE-ON-ONE’S
During the lecture phase students are assigned to a small group where you will be able to process all that you are learning with your peers and leaders. These small group times provide a wonderful opportunity to talk through the different teachings that you hear during your time in class. In this open and honest setting, you will often make close friends as you share openly, supporting and encouraging one another through discussion and prayer.
You will also be assigned a DTS staff member to be your mentor over your school, giving you access to one-on-one discipling sessions where you can share more personally and receive support, encouragement and prayer to help you to grow.
When students come from all over the world for the DTS experience, they not only walk away with a stronger relationship with the Lord, but they walk away having made lifelong friends. The nature of DTS is to be open and honest with one another – the natural outworking of this environment is encouragement, love, support and deep, genuine friendships.

HEART FOR A BROKEN WORLD
YWAM Toowoomba feels a specific, strong call to South-East Asian and Pacific Island nations. In particular, we feel called as a ministry to work with people groups facing social injustices such as the ravages of human trafficking, widespread poverty, and groups that have in a large way been forgotten by society.
AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURES AFTER DTS
One of the exciting things about DTS, is the opportunity for travel. Outreach in an overseas location is a part of the school but once you graduate, you have the opportunity to continue on with your travels, either by yourself or with your new friends.
Australia is an amazing country with so many diverse and impressive places to visit. To the east of Toowoomba is the beautiful east coast of Australia where you will find the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Byron Bay (a backpackers haven). Travelling north up the coast you will find the beautiful Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef – one of the 7 wonders of the natural world. Further south down the coast you find Sydney and it’s Opera House and to the west of Toowoomba, you can travel into the Australian Outback to see the iconic Uluru (Ayers Rock).
There is much to see in Australia and if you want to explore, Greyhound has a number of great ‘Aussie Adventures’ to take you to some of Australia’s most spectacular destinations. Visit Greyhound for more information.
