The Toowoomba Busking Festival (TBF) is a yearly event, which takes place on Easter Saturday alongside Streets and Lanes Festival. Our aim is to fill the Toowoomba CBD with music, art and a festival atmosphere.
We launched the festival in 2018, with encouragement and backing from our local council, where over 50 buskers signed up to compete. In 2019, we saw over 80 buskers take part.
HOW IT WORKS
Buskers fill the CBD during the morning of Easter Saturday. Judges watch the performances and pick their top buskers for the finals. Later on, on Main Stage, finalists get a shot at taking home the grand prize and title of Toowoomba Busking Festival winner.
But this busking festival isn’t just about finding the best busker. During the event, there is also a people’s choice award as voted by friends, family, and the community that enjoy the music as they walk by. It’s a great opportunity for the public to take part in the music scene.
Our hope with TBF is to champion and support the home-grown artists and musicians in our city, as well as draw musicians and artists from all over Australia to fill the streets of Toowoomba.
We are very proud to have partnered with:
- Toowoomba Regional Council
- Grand Central Shopping Centre
- Walton Stores
and many others in running this event.
