YWAM Toowoomba’s Staff Internship is an 18 month, hands on training course that will:
Grow your relationship with God
Train you in principles of Biblical leadership and effective ministry,
Equip you to plan, lead, and partake in ministry opportunities (both within our community and abroad)
The Discipleship Training School is the only pre-requisite to this course. This is a full-time, live-in course, operating in a missionary position.
Our Internship consists of 3 terms: 2 Ministry Terms, split up by 1 Logistical Term. Each Ministry term begins with a 3 week intensive intake, where you’ll delve deep into teachings and assignments that will grow your understanding of Biblical Leadership, Working in Missions, and the skills required for both before beginning to apply those principles in your role on staff.
During each Ministry Term, you will join a Ministry Team on our base. This will either be staffing DTS’s, joining our Rural and Coastal staff outreach team, or serving our Freedom Project ministry. You will have weekly Development Sessions as a school and the opportunity for hands on application of planning ministry opportunities, mentoring others, and participating in outreach.
We believe God releases leadership in the context of servanthood. At YWAM Toowoomba you’ll find even our long term staff and leaders serving the base in practical, day to day needs. As an Intern, you’ll also have the privilege of joining in for a season to serve the practical needs of YWAM Toowoomba in one of our backbone ministries.
The area you oversee will give you the opportunity to live out a lifestyle of leadership in a more practical context. Also, it will provide a chance to process and breathe in between intensive seasons of ministry, while simultaneously helping our ministry continue to run smoothly.
- Kitchen Managing
- Grounds & Maintenance
- and others
Although much of the Internship Training is done with an ‘on the job’ approach, you will also be provided with weekly training sessions, including topics such as:
- Biblical Leadership
- Working in Teams
- One on One Discipleship
- Biblical Worldview
- Planning/Facilitating an Outreach.
By learning from many experienced YWAM leaders, as well as respected members of the ministry community, we know that these sessions will give you tools for godly leadership within ministry.
If you’ve completed a DTS and would like to grow deeper in your relationship with God, learn to lead others to His heart, and step out in a ministry and missions context, we’d love to host you on our upcoming Internship Intake!
